Graffiato’s first restaurant opened in DC and made it’s way to a second location in Richmond, VA. It’s not your typical traditional Italian restaurant. It has unique flavors like roasted cauliflower or the chicken dish with pepperoni sauce and basil orzo in addition to hand-rolled pastas, artisanal pizzas, small plates, and gelato. The owner, Chef Mike Isabella, grew up with an Italian-American grandmother and has been featured in Food & Wine Magezine, Top Chef, and as the runner-up on Top Chef All-Stars. He owns nine restaurants in the DC, MD, and VA area, so I’d say he knows a thing or two about good food. Now before you start thinking “this restaurant is probably fancy and expensive”, it’s really not. The prices are extremely reasonable…I’m talking $15-20 for pasta or a pizza that’s made with locally-sourced ingredients. They turn a basic salad into something rich and flavorful and create a pizza that melts in your mouth. Call ahead for gluten-free pasta options!
A restaurant offering gluten-free or other dietary options does not does mean ‘allergy-free’ facility as their kitchens are not guaranteed to be 100% allergy-free and cross contamination may occur.
